Zone Protects

Zone Protects was born out of a mission to help and protect people as we are a Faith-Based company!

In 1998, when the founder, Brian Baer, saw his friend’s family dog digging and wreaking havoc in their flowerbeds, he set out to help. Brian worked to create a safe, effective and all-natural animal repellent and that is how Zone No Holes! began.

Years later (2017), the mission evolved to helping those suffering from insect-borne diseases. Brian had to create a formulation that 1) worked better, 2) was safer and 3) was pleasant to use. Existing offerings such as DEET and all-natural ingredients did not satisfy his three criteria. This spurned the formation of Baer Enterprises and Zone Repellents.

Picaridin is a safe, healthy, non-greasy, odorless and highly effective replacement to DEET and the all-natural ingredient products that just don’t work. Picaridin is EPA registered, CDC endorsed, WHO (World Health Organization) recommended and proven worldwide for 12-hour protection against mosquitoes, ticks, flies, fleas, chiggers, gnats and no-seeums. Picaridin is a synthetic chemical that is safe for all and does not damage clothing or gear.

In 2019, Zone partnered with Realtree® to help protect the hunters and fishermen with Zone Realtree and Tightline (fisherman's formula) products. Out of this effort, the Realtree Fatal Attraction brand was formed and now includes deer attractants, cover scent products as well as apparel products.

During the COVID pandemic, Baer Enterprises pivoted to create and offer hand sanitizer, surface cleansers and cleansing wipes. Soon after in 2021, Zone rebranded to Zone Protects and began adding more products to the family.

In addition to the original digging dog repellent, No Holes, Zone Protects also offers snake/reptile, deer/rabbit/animal repellents as well as armadillo, mole/gopher and rodent repellent products. To prevent pets from chewing, Zone has developed Don’t Chew Dare! Pet Chewing Deterrent.

Today, a spin-off brand, Z-Defense, offers permethrin-based insecticides with products such as Zone Realtree Outfitters spray and Pet Defender as well as a low-priced picaridin insect repellent.

The parent company to all of these brands is Baer Enterprises. Baer Enterprises is committed to giving back to the community through offering jobs, sponsoring local events and donating products and time to charitable organizations. Baer Enterprises sends life-saving insect repellents on mission trips all over the world and donates to disaster relief efforts. The mission for the company is to help and protect people and that is reflected in everything we do.
