This fascinating collection features two types of U.S. currency from the past century, the rare “red ink" $2 U.S. Note, and a $1 Silver Certificate last issued in 1957. Red Seal Notes, also called Legal Tender Notes are United States Currency. In 1953 the $2 bill received minor design changes. Red Seal Notes are characterized by a red treasury seal and serial numbers. The treasury seal was moved to the right side of the bill and was superimposed over the gray word TWO. Thomas Jefferson appears on the obverse of the bill. Silver Certificates were backed by silver by the United States government until all redemption in silver ceased on June 24, 1968. The 1957 One Dollar Silver Certificate displays the image of George Washington on the obverse. The currency is displayed in a protective window vinyl wallet. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
